Description
The Franz Joseph Wirtshaus will delight you with its unique combination of home-style cooking with creative accents and an exquisite wine list. Situated in the heart of Obermarkersdorf, just 5 kilometers from the wine town of Retz, the inn offers an idyllic setting directly on the Weinviertel DAC cycle route. Guests appreciate the cozy atmosphere and the seasonal dishes that host Michael Fabich and chef Patrick Höring are passionate about.
The successful blend of tradition and modernity extends from the guest garden under the 100-year-old lime trees through the dining room to the kitchen. Classic tavern dishes such as Wiener schnitzel or tavern goulash are on the menu alongside innovative compositions such as homemade beetroot gnocchi with spiced plums or yellow apple and pumpkin curry with grilled corn-fed chicken breast. There is something to suit every taste and occasion. First-class wines from the family vineyard and homemade specialties such as elderflower syrup round off the menu.
Dishes with history
Kaiserplatz - a place steeped in history. Where the imperial couple Franz Joseph I and Sisi once strolled and later the kindergarten children romped, guests from near and far have been dining in a cozy atmosphere in the FRANZ JOSEPH Wirtshaus since September 2023. It is named after none other than the emperor himself, as a bust has adorned the square since 1908. The guest garden seats 70 guests. In the cozy and light-flooded dining room and conservatory, 50 people can enjoy the scenery and culinary delights. The adjoining town hall is available for larger events.
