At the Trefflingtalerhaus in Puchenstuben in the Mostviertel region, size doesn't matter. With just under 40 seats inside the inn with its spacious garden, one thing quickly becomes clear: the former shelter of chef Franz "Ferry" Heinz and his wife Gabi, located right at the entrance to the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, could not have been better dressed up. Tips from the menu: The lamb ragout in a tomato, red wine and root sauce is often served with thyme potatoes. And the stuffed peppers have a lot going for them: ancient grains, feta cheese and fresh herbs, mixed with a spicy tomato sauce, create a harmonious whole. The desserts are tried and tested with poppy seed soufflé and vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries.
