Description

At the Trefflingtalerhaus in Puchenstuben in the Mostviertel region, size doesn't matter. With just under 40 seats inside the inn with its spacious garden, one thing quickly becomes clear: the former shelter of chef Franz "Ferry" Heinz and his wife Gabi, located right at the entrance to the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, could not have been better dressed up. Once you have taken a seat in the lovingly designed guest garden, you will never cease to be amazed. A magnificent natural ambience that is also appreciated by the hotel's own sheep, lambs and chickens. Regionality at the highest level. A matter of course at the Trefflingtalerhaus.

Wanderlust begins at the Trefflingtalerhaus

The lamb used in many of the house specialties comes exclusively from our own production.

Tips from the menu: The lamb ragout in a tomato, red wine and root sauce is often served with thyme potatoes. And the stuffed peppers have a lot going for them: ancient grains, feta cheese and fresh herbs, mixed with a spicy tomato sauce, create a harmonious whole. The desserts are tried and tested with poppy seed soufflé and vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries.

A stop at the Trefflingtalerhaus is a tradition for excursion guests. Before or after the hike. It takes a good 2.5 hours to hike up to the Hochbärneck. A ten-metre-high observation tower awaits at the top, promising a fabulous view of the vast Ötscherland. The popular hike to the Treffling Falls, the highest waterfall in Lower Austria, which plunges up to 120 meters into the Erlauf, will also amaze you.
