Riding a gravel bike from Karlstein/Thaya to the Landstein Ruins in the Czech Republic.

We start at the clock museum in Karlstein/Thaya (Lower Austria Card) and head straight uphill towards Münchreith and a beautiful descent to Schuppertholz. From here it's a leisurely ride along the former railroad line, the Thayarunde, to Slavonice in the Czech Republic.

The idyllic Renaissance town of Slavonice invites you to take a break and a worthwhile tour of the town. The route then continues uphill towards the northwest, where you come to the excavation of the medieval settlement of Pfaffenschlag and on to the bison ranch in Rožnov. A short time later, you reach the Landstein ruins, which can also be visited in the summer months. A tip: buy tickets online in advance.

On the way back, the Ebergersch (Dobrohor) castle near Stare Mesto invites you to take a short coffee break. Shortly after the border, you can also pay attention to the game reserve in Kleintaxen before heading back to Karlstein.
