When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.

Sturdy footwear, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).

Start in front of the town hall and head toward Jungschlag—that is, walk along Spitzerstraße and turn right before the beautiful wayside shrine. When you reach Jungschlag, take the first right turn and follow the farm road into the forest. You’ll cross Federal Highway 36 and, as you pass by, you’ll see the vintage tractor hall on your right. Continue back into the forest until you reach the marked turnoff to the right; from there, follow a trail and cross a small bridge until you can already see the town. Finally, cross the road at the road maintenance depot, turn right, and you’ll return to the town center.
