Mountain bike tour Starting from Schrems, Church Square
Schrems - Niederschrems - Kleedorf - Hoheneich - Kottinghörmanns - Kollersdorf - Eugenia - Schrems
Schrems - Niederschrems - Kleedorf - Hoheneich - Kottinghörmanns - Kollersdorf - Eugenia - Schrems
Due to construction work on the flood protection in the Schrems town park, the MTB route is currently being rerouted locally.
From the main square, the tour takes us to the sports facilities of the Schrems Sports Club and continues along the Braunaubach stream through the so-called Heumühle (natural monument) to Niederschrems. We continue via Kleedorf to Hoheneich, where we pass through the village. Then there’s an option to branch off at the quarry (side road). The loop then takes us along a cart path to Neu-Niederschrems and on to Kottinghörmanns. We first go around the village and then head into the industrial area of Schrems. Via the roundabout, we reach Eugenia and from there, through the protected “Eichenallee” (oak-lined avenue), to Kollersdorf. From there, we head back to Eugenia, past the Eliasteich—perhaps taking another short break before returning to the starting point.
***Note: Due to a dam breach at the Eliasteich in Schrems, the “Steinbruchweg” MTB route must be rerouted. Detour signs (starting from Eugenia) have already been put up by the municipality.***
Coming from St. Pölten, take the S33 to Krems, then the B37 to Rastenfeld, the B38 to Zwettl, the B36 to Großhaslau, then turn left and continue via Limbach and Kirchberg am Walde to Schrems.
Coming from Vienna, take the A22 to the Stockerau Nord exit, continue on the B4 to Horn, then take the B2 to Schrems.
Coming from the west, take the A1 to the A7 exit—follow the A7 to Unterweitersdorf—take the S10 to the Sandl exit—continue on the B38 to Karlstift—then take the B41 to Schrems.
Take this opportunity to visit Schrems’ popular excursion destinations, such as the Moorbad Schrems, the UnterWasserReich, or the Waldviertel Art Museum. Or book a guided tour of the Schrems Brewery or the Waldviertler Werkstätten. Relax and recharge at one of Schrems’ inns or cafés.
