We leave the main square - town fountain - through the Verderber and Znaimertor gates. At the crossroads there is a fork ahead of us; we take the left - into Fladnitzerstraße - in the direction of Hardegg. After approx. 200 m, we turn right into the rural shopping street Lange Zeile. At the end of Lange Zeile, the wine trail begins, leading us through hilly vineyards, past a varietal vineyard, up to the Altenberg. Past the Winzerhaus am Altenberg, towards the railroad crossing, to the right, we walk along the Setzberg back to the town. The path leads into the Lange Zeile, where the Altstadtheurige (Lehninger family, Lange Zeile no. 33) invites you to stop for a bite to eat.
Please note that short-term parking is in effect within the city limits of Retz.
Parking is available outside the main square and at the train station.
Vienna: A 22 to Stockerau – S3 to Hollabrunn – B 303 to Guntersdorf – B 30 to Retz
Linz: A 7 toward Freistadt – B 310 to Freistadt – B 38 via Zwettl to Rastenfeld – turn left here toward Horn – B 45 to Pulkau – B 35 to Retz
There are direct train connections from Vienna and Znojmo. It is about 1 km on foot from the train station to the main square.
