When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.
Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).
From the town hall, walk up Wachaustraße toward the upper village pond. Cross the pond dam to reach Hubertusgasse. A short distance further on, turn left onto Adenholzweg and follow it to the sports field (Hubertusstadion). At the far end of the field, you can visit the Hubertus Chapel. Back on the trail, continue to a gate located to the right of the path. There, you’ll leave the Mohnstrudelweg (12) and Sonnenweg (30) trails, which have been running parallel up to this point. You are now on a beautiful, wide forest trail. At the next fork in the trail, turn right, and 100 meters further on, turn left onto a narrow path. This leads toward Teichmannserwand (Steinwand). After about 250 meters, you can turn left and hike up the Teichmannserwand. After returning from your detour to the ridge, continue along the trail; after a short hike, you’ll reach the Teichmannser Bacherl. At the stream, turn left. The trail now leads into the area known as Adenholz. After about 1 kilometer, you’ll come to a wide forest road. Follow this road to the left, and after a half-hour walk, you’ll return to Ottenschlag.
