Yspertal, the sunny vacation resort with its magnificent natural jewel, the Ysperklamm gorge. Here, hikers experience an impressive interplay between the elements of wood, stone and water! Tips: Tennis and leisure center, year-round indoor swimming pool, local history museum in Altenmarkt (including the life's work of the "Schalenstein researcher" Pastor Hans Wick to admire, mysterious things about the legendary, mystical places in the region), Hoffmann riding stables. Worth seeing: Rorregg Castle (privately owned by the Habsburg - Lorraine family), Wimburg ruins (from the 14th century, widow's seat of Agnes of Hungary), St. Urban's Church in Pisching, St. Magdalena's Church in Altenmarkt with pictures from the school of Kremser Schmidt and Paul Troger, St. Laurentius' Church in Ysper with "carving". All hiking trails from Altenmarkt and Ysper are signposted from both starting points!
This leisurely loop trail, with its beautiful reflections in the pond, takes us around Rorregg Castle. You’ll start the walk in Ysper, near the church; then we’ll turn right and, after about 250 m, turn left at the curve. Here we leave the village and first reach the idyllic Wihalm Pond. After about 100 m along the farm road, a meadow path leads uphill to a grove of trees with information panels about important historical events from the Habsburg era. Walk along the row of trees until you reach the paved road, cross it, and follow the road to Puschacher Pond (“Burgschachenteich”). Here you can take a walk around the pond and, in the summer, go for a swim. At the dam, we turn off and follow the path to the Waldteich, cross the paved road, and continue below Rorregg Castle. After the short incline, head down to the left toward the houses; here, turn right onto the narrow trail, which brings us back to the village.
