The market town of Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn is located on the eastern edge of the Lower Austrian Prealps, where the last hilly foothills descend into the Vienna Basin, on the so-called thermal line. Accordingly, the influence of the Pannonian climate is already strongly noticeable here, which can also be seen in the vegetation, predominantly black pine forests and oak forests, beech forests only on cooler northern slopes, as well as in the many vineyards. For hikers, the municipality offers many possibilities, all of which can be classified as rather leisurely, even on longer routes, as there are only a few meters of altitude to overcome. The highest mountain in the municipality, the Pfarrkogel (470 m), the parade excursion mountain of Berndorf, the Guglzipf (472 m) with an observation tower and huts, as well as the extensive forest landscapes between the municipality and Aigen can be hiked. No visitor should miss out on a walk around the symposium site (dry grassland Natura 2000 area, permanent sculpture exhibition, view). On your return from the hike, you can either stop off at one of the inns or visit one of the rustic wine taverns in Lindabrunn or Enzesfeld. The hikes presented here can also be easily undertaken by public transport (Enzesfeld train station). The best way to get to the starting point in Lindabrunn is via the Frauentalkreuz.

    Description

This trail through the woods to the south and west of Lindabrunn offers a very leisurely circular hike of over 13 km with an elevation gain of just over 200 meters. The few meters in altitude have to be completed right at the beginning, past the sports school and Hubertus Chapel. Then you are on the ridge "Auf dem Hart" and the route is mostly flat on good paths and forest roads through extensive black pine forests, where you can often still see traces of the pecher trade. Once you reach the unwooded plateau around Aigen, the landscape opens up and you have beautiful views of the Schneeberg and Hohe Wand, among others. In Aigen, you can stop off at the Penninger inn, which you pass right by. Afterwards, you have to walk along the country road for a while before descending into the woods again. Past St. Veiter Blinden Kreuz and Lindabrunner Blindenkreuz, a path leads to Golfstraße and along forest roads back to the starting point. Back in Lindabrunn, we recommend a visit to one of the cozy wine taverns where you can end the day.
