Hiking tour Starting from Mönichkirchen
This trail leads from the Alps into the hills of the Bucklige Welt.
This trail leads from the Alps into the hills of the Bucklige Welt.
After the village of Mönichkirchen, you cross the main road and then walk along field and forest paths along the Austrian long-distance hiking trail 02. A section with asphalt paths begins near the highway crossing. The panoramic and varied route between fields, meadows and woodland makes up for the asphalt paths that connect the small villages of Schlag, Pichl and Hosien. Before reaching Pichl, you pass Ziegersberg Castle (private). A forest path leads to Hosien and on to our stage destination, the parking lot at Hutwisch.
Overnight accommodation: Shuttle service from the stage finish or on foot via the regional route to Bad Schönau.

When choosing a route, make sure it matches your mountaineering experience and physical fitness. Check the weather forecast in advance. The weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Therefore, always set out with the appropriate gear (e.g., rain gear).
Check to see if the huts and snack bars you plan to visit along the way are open. Let someone know your route and your planned return time before you set out.
Always bring appropriate maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes suitable for the hike, and bring sunscreen, rain gear, water, and a light snack. Bring your cell phone and save the mountain rescue emergency number: 140
