From the chair lift valley station to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig, continue to the Hallerhaus and via the Steinerne Stiege to the Vorauer Schwaig turn-off. Return via an idyllic path over the Studentenkreuz to Mönichkirchner Schwaig, Alpengasthof Enzian 1200 m and Berggasthof 1200 m, then back to the starting point.
Parking is available at the Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen (the starting point of the route)
From Vienna: Take the A2 Südautobahn through the Pittental valley to the Edlitz-Aspang exit, then continue on the B54 federal highway toward Aspang and on to Mönichkirchen.
From Graz: Take the A2 Südautobahn to the Zöbern exit toward Aspang—then continue to Mönichkirchen via the B54, or take the Pinggau exit and follow the B54 federal highway.
You could also take the chair lift up to the Mönichkirchner Schwaig and continue the hike from there.

The Vorauer Schwaig is owned by Vorau Abbey and has been leased out since the 19th century. Hikers primarily use the more pleasant ascent from the Lower Austrian side. The Hochwechsel, at 1,743 m, is about an hour’s walk from the Vorauer Schwaig.
