Hiking tour Starting from Aufreiter Wine Farm, Dorfstraße 34, 3506 Krems-Angern or Lillis Apricot Garden in Paudorf
The Wachau Apricot Experience Route leads through the picturesque wine landscape and old apricot orchards and provides a lot of informative insights about the noble fruit.
The approx. 7-kilometre circular trail starts and ends at Weinhof Aufreiter in Krems-Angern or at Lillis Marillengarten in Paudorf. Several stations invite you to learn more about the animals in the apricot garden, the blossoming of the trees and the work in the apricot garden.
There are plenty of wildflowers and wild herbs to be found in the many intervening areas, along the rains, hedges and pathsides and also in the middle of the gardens. Those who want to observe the wildlife will be just as richly rewarded. From insects, spiders and birds to small mammals such as the very special ground squirrel, rare reptiles such as the fire salamander or green lizard to pheasant, hare and deer ... if you have a little leisure and patience, you will encounter them all here!
The circular trail ends again at Weinhof Aufreiter or at Lillis Marillengarten. At both farms you will find numerous delicious apricot souvenirs and apricot products in the gourmet farm stores. Enjoy all kinds of Wachau apricot delicacies, visit the Wachau apricot distillery and taste the many delicious products!

Use of the Apricot Route is free of charge. The vintners and apricot growers in the area maintain the gardens and mow the paths. You can appreciate this by tasting and buying the regional products around wine & apricot in the farm shops and thus enable this service to continue.
