Hiking tour Starting from Scheiblingkirchen/ Parish Church
The extensive circular hike leads from the center of Scheiblingkirchen via Gleißenfeld up to the Türkensturz and back again via Thernberg. The leisurely hiking tour is mostly on well-surfaced paths, partly on trails.
The hike begins at the Romanesque round church in Scheiblingkirchen (370 m) and leads through the Höllgraben to Witzelsberg to the Heimkehrerkreuz. The trail continues through the forest to the Rehgartl cross, over the Hartberg to the Hubertus chapel and down to Gleißenfeld to the Türkensturz. From there, the trail climbs steeply via the Sollgrabenalm to Weingart and on to Thernberg. The tour ends in Scheiblingkirchen.
Archduke Johann, who gave his name to the hike, acquired Thernberg Castle in 1807 and promoted the region. Finally, the route offers an art exhibition with sculptures between Thernberg and Scheiblingkirchen.
