Artstetten 2 - Glücksweg

Please note the following tips and guidelines:
· Stay on the marked trails.
· Wear hiking boots.
· Use hiking poles.
· Rain gear is always advisable.
· Bring a hiking map with you.
· Carry enough drinking water with you.
· Please do not leave your trash behind on the trail.
· Respect the sensitive habitats of flora and fauna.

You undertake the suggested hikes at your own risk and on your own responsibility.

We recommend hiking boots, a backpack, a hiking map and/or a mobile route planner, weatherproof clothing (e.g., rain gear), a hat, sunscreen, a first-aid kit, possibly a flashlight, and enough food and drink to keep your energy up (water, snacks).

The Path of Happiness begins at Prangerplatz and heads toward the Musikheim, then runs along the castle park on the Way of St. James, offering magnificent views of the Danube Valley. Continue on Franz-Ferdinand-Straße to Maria Taferl-Straße, then turn left toward Artstetten. At the Bauxberger Chapel, turn right toward Klein Pöchlarn; after a gently ascending sunken path—past a beautiful birch tree with a bench—the trail continues past the Neupöllinger Cross to the Sonnwendfeuerplatz. Continue along “Am Eichbergweg” to Berggasse, then head down this street to the starting point at Prangerplatz.

Parking is available at the Musikheim or at Artstetten Castle.

Artstetten-Pöbring is accessible via the A1 Westautobahn; take the Pöchlarn exit. At the exit, take the first exit at the roundabout, then turn left after about 1 km and cross the Danube Bridge. Keep left; Wachaustraße (B3) leads to Klein-Pöchlarn. Once in town, turn toward Artstetten (approx. 3 km).

Coming from Grein or Krems, take Wachauerstraße (B3) to Klein-Pöchlarn; once in town, turn toward Artstetten (about 3 km).

Take the Westbahn to the Pöchlarn train station— check the schedule. From the station, take the bus to Artstetten— check the schedule.
