When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.

Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).

Across from the entrance to the Naturpark Nordwald Scheiben, the trail leads to the “Kitzlerhäuser,” over the Schwarzenberg to Rindlberg, and on to Reichenau am Freiwald. Following trail marker 87, the trail continues on to Karlstift. You’ll cross State Road B38 and continue hiking to the Stierhübelteich.

This trail is especially great for a full day out in the summer. Hike to the pond—swim and cool off—then hike back.
