Hiking tour Starting from Albrechtsberg Main Square
When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.
Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).
From the main square in Albrechtsberg, follow the signs north. After about 150 meters, turn left into the forest. From there, it takes about 15 minutes to reach the Augenbründl. With its excellent drinking water and benches, the Augenbründl invites you to relax and unwind. Now continue along the gently sloping path until you reach the Lugeck. During the Thirty Years’ War, the Lugeck served as an important vantage point overlooking the road between Albrechtsberg and Brauhaus. From there, it’s another 15-minute walk to the Waldandacht. There, you can also take a comfortable break on one of the benches. You’ll hike back across an open field and reach Albrechtsberg in about 30 minutes (stamp locations: Gasthaus Fischer and Café Schäfer). Additional hiking trails were under revision at the time this hiking map was created. These will be added to waldviertel.at once they are completed. Furthermore, the trails will be marked on the municipality’s trailhead signs.
From Vienna, take the A 22 and S 5 or the A1 and S 33 to Krems, then continue on the B 37 toward Zwettl. After Gföhl, turn left toward Lichtenau and drive to Albrechtsberg.
From Linz, take the A7 to Unterweitersdorf—then take the S10 to the Sandl exit—and continue on the B38 to Zwettl. In Zwettl, take the B37 toward Krems until you reach Marbach im Felde—turn right here and drive via Lichtenau to Albrechtsberg.
