Hiking tour Starting from Hotel Sacher Baden
This loop takes us through the picturesque Helenental valley to the Augustinerhütte, then steeply uphill via the Steinigen Weg to the Sinawarte on the Hoher Lindkogel. Back along the long-distance hiking trail 04 to the Jägerhaus and then back to Baden.

We start the tour on the famous trail in the Helenental valley, following in the footsteps of many historical figures, such as Emperor Franz and his family or Ludwig van Beethoven. On the trail along the wild and romantic river landscape, we pass the Urtlstein, the Antonsgrotte, the Cholerakapelle and the Beethovenstein before reaching the Augustinerhütte. From here, the trail climbs steeply uphill on the Steiniger Weg, with wonderful views of the Vienna Woods in between, until we reach the Sinawarte at the top of the Hoher Lindkogel (834m). After the long climb, the excursion inn is ideal for a long rest. For the descent, we pass through the Iron Gate and hike via the Brennersteig, with a short climbing section, and continue on beautiful forest paths to the ascent to the Sooßer Lindkogel. We keep left and continue downhill to the Jägerhaus and from there around the Badener Lindkogel to the Eugenvilla. This brings us back to the Schwechat and we soon reach the starting point of this great hike.

From the Hotel Sacher Baden, we cross the Schwechat River, turn right, and follow the red trail marker (40) past the Antonsgrotte and the Cholera Chapel. After passing the Beethovenstein, we join the Helenental Bike Path, which runs alongside the hiking trail in this section. After the short paved section behind the Schulzheim, the red trail marker (40) branches off slightly to the left and leads uphill along a narrow forest path to the Augustinerhütte. From here, we continue steeply uphill along the red and yellow trail markers to the Sinawarte. From the summit of the Hoher Lindkogel, we hike downhill, following the red Long-Distance Hiking Trail 04 and the blue trail markers all the way to the ascent to the Sooßer Lindkogel. At this point, we keep to the left and continue following the red Trail 04 and the blue trail markers to the Jägerhaus. We circle around the farmstead, walk briefly uphill on a steep section, and then, keeping to the right, continue on Long-Distance Hiking Trail 04 toward Baden. In the final part of the descent, the trail narrows into a footpath that winds down in short switchbacks to the valley floor. Those who want to include the Rauheneckerberg in their hike should take the path to the right uphill at this point. We, however, keep to the left and continue downhill to the Eugenvilla. Here, we cross the Schwechat River and, after the bridge, turn left to return to the starting point.
If you still feel up to a few more meters of elevation gain at the end of the loop, head up the Rauheneckerberg—you’ll be rewarded with two special sights: the Neolithic Königshöhle cave and the Rauheneck castle ruins, which offer a wonderful view of the spa town of Baden. Particularly fit hikers can continue from the Sinawarte along the Beethoven Circular Hiking Trail No. 40 toward the Merkenstein ruins and on through Gainfarn, Bad Vöslau, and the wine village of Sooß back to Baden.
