When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.
Sturdy footwear, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food and drinks (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water). For winter hikes, we recommend a thermos with hot drinks, warm, functional clothing, a hat, gloves, and a flashlight or headlamp.
The starting point is at the Gut-Fit fitness center next to the municipal office. From here, the trail passes by the church and heads uphill toward the former railroad tracks. Once you reach the top, the first fitness exercises begin; these are illustrated on signs and labeled with difficulty levels. Turn left and follow the signs toward Poggschlag, passing the cemetery along the way. Along the route, you’ll come across exercises again and again while enjoying the peace and quiet of the forest. At the end of the path, turn right onto the farm road. Continuing uphill, you’ll reach Hochfeld and return to Gutenbrunn via the old Kirchensteig trail. Here, you can take a shortcut back to the village by turning right. For those who are more athletic, continue left past the sports field. The final part of the hike runs through a wooded area. After crossing the L83, you’ll reach Hanslteich, from where the trail leads back to Gutenbrunn and the Inhalatorium with its Kneipp path and playground. Wind down your hike here in a relaxed manner, then stroll downhill back to the village, where places to stop for refreshments await you.
