Damhirsch-Bründlweg

Description

At the beginning, you walk through the Grüner Graben, along fields of poppies and milk thistle, as on trails W1 and W2. At the edge of the forest, however, do not head towards Rassingdorf, but keep right and walk through a section of forest to the road to Oberhöflein, which you turn right onto and follow into the village, where the former moated castle stands. In the village, turn right at the wayside chapel and head towards the train station, where you can visit the fishing paradise. Then cross the railroad tracks and the Nesselbach stream and turn right. Now walk along the railroad line, on which the "Reblausexpress" runs, through the tranquil Fugnitz valley, past the Damhirsch ranch in an easterly direction until you cross the road to Riegersburg after around two kilometers, at the sandstone statue of St. John. Continue straight ahead until you reach the village of Fronsburg. Your next destination could be the wine tavern or the "Fronsburger Bründl". You then cross the Fugnitz and turn left onto a field path that takes you back to Weitersfeld.
