The tour begins in the center of Hagenbrunn, from where it continues into the local wine cellar lane. Here, a digitally enhanced wine cellar invites you to take a break and learn all about the history of wine—from the grape to the beloved Achterl. After gaining an initial insight into how wine is made, the tour continues to the chapel garden. Once there, aromatic herbs and special crops fill the air with a fresh, spicy scent. After exploring the botanical companions of wine, the path leads you along the Bisamberger Forest to the popular Weingartenhütte. The climb is well worth it, as you’ll be rewarded with an extraordinary view of Vienna. Once you’ve enjoyed the unique view, the trail leads back downhill to Hagenbrunn, where one or two winemakers are waiting for you. The best way to round off this eventful walk is at one of Hagenbrunn’s many wine farms. Experience has shown that these fine wines are best enjoyed by the glass.

In-Depth Guided Tours: It’s Most Fun When Accompanied by a Winemaker

We recommend taking a guided tour along the “Der Weg zum Wein” loop trail. This allows you to delve even deeper into the world of wine than you would on a self-guided tour. Together with a real winemaker, visit an old wine press house with a cellar tunnel, where the finest wines from Hagenbrunn’s vintners are stored. Of course, you’ll have the chance to taste these wines during the tour. And along the way, you can listen to anecdotes from a winemaker’s life.
