Hiking tour Starting from Dorfstetten, Church Square
Trail no. 97 The village of Dorfstetten is hidden near the border with Upper Austria. It is famous as a passion play community. The play is performed every 6 years - next time in 2014 - but there are many reasons for a trip here - such as archery, fishing, the honey house, lazing around and relaxing. And of course hiking! A meditative-spiritual theme has been taken up here and a meditation trail has been set up. Special places of power, viewpoints and idyllic natural beauty are destinations along the way. In addition, hikers can pick up instructions at the stations based on the Canticle of the Sun by Francis of Assisi for a spiritual experience of nature.

In the middle of the deepest forest - Somewhere here, modern Hansel and Gretel could get lost in the deep forest. The cell phone is with them, but there is no network. The forest is rustling, but not the radio. And in these days of "Resch&Frisch", who has stale bread crumbs with them? Hikers can confidently rely on the good markings...
Dorfstetten, a community of 616 people, lies on the edge of the largest closed forest area in Austria and is more than 80 percent wooded. The Weinsberg Forest offers plenty of space for meditation, but our chosen route, the "Meditation Trail", also leads us to numerous wonderful viewpoints. The one-hour detour to the mistletoe wall is highly recommended because of the beautiful view of the Sarmingtal valley.
From the church square, along the church path to the village mill. Along the Graben farm road, right onto a field path before the hill. Past the Vordersteinberg Chapel, forest path to Hintersteinberg. Shortly after the farm, turn left, along the paved road, leave the road at the large stone and take field paths uphill to Stallwiese. From there turn left to Geringer Chapel and Einsiedlermauer. A detour to Mistelmauer is possible there. Back to Geringer, farm road to the country road, cross it and take the forest road to the honey house at Zeltingreith, then left forest path over a bridge to the Hintermühle. Shortly along the country road, then left hollow path uphill to Winkel. Out of the forest, following the marking along the paved road. The church is in sight, the starting point nearby.
There is plenty of free parking available at the church. This is also the starting point for the hiking trails.
