Worth seeing: Gothic hall church with a separate bell tower and old market thoroughfare. The Dr. Jörg Mauthe Trail begins at the Gewerbebaum and leads past the magnificent fortified church up to the Zehentfeld, a high meadow with a view of Mollenburg Castle. Here, cozy benches invite you to linger and enjoy the scenery. Passing the castle, the trail leads back to Weiten, where excellent restaurants are ready to cater to your culinary needs. The trail’s destination is the historic Prangerplatz with the “Dr. Jörg Mauthe Millennium Sundial,” which has already become a landmark of Weiten. At the 17 stations (benches) along the trail, you’ll find quotes from Dr. Jörg Mauthe’s books, selected by prominent figures from the worlds of culture and politics.
