When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.

Sturdy shoes, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).

The approximately 17.2-kilometer circular hiking trail leads from Göpfritz an der Wild through the Allentsteig military training area to Scheideldorf and along the Falter ravine to Federal Highway B5 (Be careful when crossing!!!) The trail leads through the forest and later along the state road to Breitenfeld and Kirchberg (castle, pond, church, market square). The trail follows paved farm roads alongside the Franz-Josefs Railway to a railroad underpass. From there, it continues through the Wild River (Holzteich), past the “Maria Trost” wayside shrine (1731), and back to Göpfritz an der Wild.
