The market town of Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn is located on the eastern edge of the Lower Austrian Prealps, where the last hilly foothills descend into the Vienna Basin, on the so-called thermal line. Accordingly, the influence of the Pannonian climate is already strongly noticeable here, which can also be seen in the vegetation, predominantly black pine forests and oak forests, beech forests only on cooler northern slopes, as well as in the many vineyards. For hikers, the municipality offers many possibilities, all of which can be classified as rather leisurely, even on longer routes, as there are only a few meters of altitude to overcome. The highest mountain in the municipality, the Pfarrkogel (470 m), the parade excursion mountain of Berndorf, the Guglzipf (472 m) with an observation tower and huts, as well as the extensive forest landscapes between the municipality and Aigen can be hiked. No visitor should miss out on a walk around the symposium site (dry grassland Natura 2000 area, permanent sculpture exhibition, view). On your return from the hike, you can either stop off at one of the inns or visit one of the rustic wine taverns in Lindabrunn or Enzesfeld. The hikes presented here can also be easily undertaken by public transport (Enzesfeld train station). The best way to get to the starting point in Lindabrunn is via the Frauentalkreuz.

Description

The Guglzipf with its height of 472 m is a very popular hiking destination from Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn. The viewing tower with its 360° panorama over the eastern foothills of the Alps and the opportunity to stop off at the forest hut certainly contribute to this.

From the starting point in Enzesfeld, you hike to the Frauentalkreuz (also accessible via other access routes from the local area) and then head west along the edge of the forest with great views. Through pine forest you reach the golf road (feeder road to the golf course), which you use for a while. You circle the golf course to the south through beech forests to the Saurerkreuz, where you hike through sparse pine forests towards Kleinfeld and then to the summit of the Guglzipf. Here, hikers can climb the observation tower and stop off at the hut. A children's playground, the forest bowling alley and a forest nature trail round off the offer. The way back leads past the Aichkreuz and north of the golf course into the Eichgraben with its rocky scenery. A short, steep climb and finally a circuit of the Pfarrkogel on its northern side round off the hiking experience.
