When choosing your route, make sure it’s appropriate for your fitness level. Check to see if the restaurants and cafes you plan to visit along the way are open. Pack your fully charged cell phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border trips, please always carry a passport or ID card with you.

Sturdy footwear, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, trekking poles if needed, first-aid kit (blister bandages), and plenty of food (snacks, granola bars, fruit, water).

With its numerous stops along the way, the familien.weg is an absolutely exciting hike for young and old alike. Time and again, children are invited to test their skills and explore nature—whether at the playground with its climbing tower, while climbing ropes, or building sandcastles. From the information board, follow the yellow signs marked “Route 1” and walk past the parish church. After crossing the Perndorf Stream, turn right a short distance further on. You can already see the Hubertus wayside shrine from a distance. At the edge of the forest, cross the (new) Thaya footbridge and head toward Mannshalm, always following the signs. Before reaching Mannshalm, turn right and you’ll come to the Pfarrerteich (with a recreational area). After a refreshing dip in the pond, turn right and take a leisurely hike along farm roads, past the playground, back to Sallingstadt.
