Description
Through the sand ditch, the route becomes increasingly steep on asphalt to the Promau hill. After a short descent on asphalt, do not turn off at a sharp left-hand bend but continue straight ahead onto the gravel road and begin the long and sometimes steep ascent towards Gamsstein, all on gravel.
Once at the top, in the middle of the Eisenwurzen Nature Park, the MTB scenery is at its best: far away from civilization, over clearings, through forests and lush green meadows, the route is flat and sloping for a few kilometers before the actual descent begins on an easy gravel road with a few sharp bends (be careful!) down to Palfau.
In Palfau, an idyllic village belonging to Styria and known for sensational rafting tours in the Salza, the steep ascent (first asphalt, later gravel) up towards Gamsstein to the Moaralmhütte begins in the village area.
From there, the first ascent is a descent back to Hollenstein.
- safety instructions Please note the winter closure of this and all other MTB trails in the Mostviertel from November 1st to April 14th. Thank you for your understanding!
