Description

Garden bike tours - a fitting term, but what does it mean? Along the sunflower, poplar and rose tour, cyclists can experience the theme of gardens in the Tulln region in a new way. In addition to garden experiences, garden and tree artworks, there are also many show gardens and horticultural businesses along or in the immediate vicinity of the route. The rose tour starts in the garden city of Tulln and first heads east along the Danube cycle path to the Danube oxbow in Greifenstein. A beautiful Danube landscape awaits cyclists here and also invites them to linger. In addition to the Rainbow Ends, Starkl, Praskac and GARTEN TULLN show gardens, Atzenbrugg Castle is also one of the horticultural highlights of this route.

Equipment Tip: Due to the length of the route, the Rose route is especially suitable for e-bike riders and can be ridden in both directions.
Route description We start the route at the guest harbour on the Danube promenade in Tulln opposite the ship landing stage and cycle along the Danube cycle path westwards, past GARDEN TULLN. After the bicycle underpass we follow the signs [R] to Zwentendorf. Here we leave the Danube cycle path and turn left towards Dürnrohr. The route then takes us onto the L115 Moosbierbaumerstraße until, after about 600 meters, we turn left at the junction by the Atzenbrugg golf course. After the castle in Atzenbrugg we turn left to reach Rust in the Tullnerfeld. We follow the signs and cross an underpass on the cycle path near Michelhausen again.Before the railway crossing, we take Feldgasse and follow it along the railway tracks. To get back onto the cycle path in the town area of Judenau, we ride along the gravel path by the stream (Große Tulln). Then we cross the bridge near the cemetery and turn right into the street “an der Tulln.”After Wehrgasse we turn left and reach “Pflanzenland- Praskac” after about 3 kilometres. Now it goes to the right towards Frauenhofen. Here we pass the roundabout at the third exit and keep right at the fork to get onto L2137 towards Tulbing. (Anyone wishing to visit the Starkl nursery must turn left at the fork and follow Gärtnerstraße for 130 meters.) Once in Tulbing, we turn immediately after the VAZ building into Dammgasse and follow the signs to the cycle path up to Wipfingerstraße in Königstetten. We cross the bridge and cycle again along the main ditch. At the end of the partly unpaved field path, we are already in Zeiselmauer. Please be careful here, as we have to cross federal road 14 to reach the town centre. Past the strawberry field, we enter Augasse and then turn left after the bridge into Römergasse and then left again.In St. Andrä Wördern, be sure to pay close attention to the signs again, so you do not miss any in the small residential streets.Now the next rest stop is not far. At Treppelweg we cycle towards Greifenstein. Here we immerse ourselves in the idyllic floodplain landscape of the Danube's old arm. Those who wish can use the bathing facilities here or take a round with the pedal boat. A short break is definitely worthwhile. After the old-arm circuit, we arrive back at the Danube cycle path, which takes us back to the starting point in Tulln.
