Golfplatzweg

From the lower end of the main square, take Höberthgasse and the steps, crossing Wiener Straße, up to the castle’s entrance gate, which offers a beautiful view. Then walk down Schlossgasse. At a hairpin curve, a dirt road branches off to the left, which turns right and leads into a residential street. Heading north, you’ll come to an underpass beneath the B5 and continue on to the Stoißmühle. After the Thayasteg, you’ll cross the golf course lawn to reach the “Stoißen” trail junction. From here, a public trail leads straight across the golf course toward Hollenbach, offering a beautiful view of Waidhofen. In Hollenbach, turn right onto a residential street leading down to the state highway and follow it into town. After passing an excavation company, cross the Ortsbach stream and continue for 200 meters along the “Winterseite.” Then, through a narrow, steep alley, you’ll reach the “Hintausweg,” which you’ll follow until you reach the eastern edge of town. After passing a barn, turn right onto a dirt road that takes you through hilly terrain into the Kaltenbach Valley. On the forest road, you’ll pass the Hettler or Gypsy wayside shrine. After a small pond, a wooden path leads down into the narrow valley. After crossing the Hollenbach, walk up the embankment and a few meters across a field. Then you’ll see the dirt road that takes you to Altwaidhofen. After the inn, a narrow footpath leads to the right toward the Thayasteg bridge, which takes you to Schlossgasse and back to the town center.
