Golitschweg

From the main square—the town fountain—walk toward the pharmacy on Burggasse and pass through the Althof hotel complex over a wooden bridge to Klosterbrückerlweg. Passing the Dominican Church on your left, turn right to leave town and hike through the vineyards to the foot of the Golitsch. The Golitsch, Retz’s local mountain, offers a beautiful view of the wine-growing town with its heathland and dry grasslands (landscape conservation area). From the scenic bench, the trail leads you along the backside of the Golitsch back to Klosterbrückerlweg. For a break, stop by the Vinarium wine tavern at the Hotel Althof or the Brandstetter city wine tavern on Vinzenzigasse.
