Description

We start at the clock museum in Karlstein/Thaya (Lower Austria Card) and head straight uphill towards Göpfritzschlag and on through a wonderful high forest, followed by a great descent and impressive views of the northern Waldviertel to Merkengersch. From here it's a leisurely ride along the former railroad line, the Thayarunde, to Slavonice in the Czech Republic.

The idyllic Renaissance town of Slavonice invites you to take a break: an ice cream, lunch, a good Czech beer. There should also be time for a tour of the town.

The route leads back over the "green border" to Rappolz and along the Iron Curtain Trail to Neuriegers. Continue along the herb cycle route to Weikertschlag, where you can take a short break at the Thayabad and visit the local museum.

This route is perfect for people who want to take a trip to our neighbors in the Czech Republic and experience picturesque scenery, culture and the Thayarunde.
