Hiking tour Starting from Leobersdorf Town Hall Square
The market town of Leobersdorf is located at the end of the Triestingtal valley, largely in the Vienna Basin. Due to its convenient location, the municipality of Leobersdorf has developed from a pure wine village into an important business location in the Triestingtal. The hikes in the municipality are mostly flat and largely lead through agricultural areas, often between vineyards. One exception here is the Lindenberg, the first elevation north of the Triesting, which can be explored on a very beautiful hiking circuit with an ascent of 160 meters. The newly constructed cycle path towards Enzesfeld now also opens up the hiking areas of the market town of Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn as far as the Guglzipf in Berndorf. Hikes in Leobersdorf can be rounded off comfortably at one of the many wine taverns or inns. The new main square in the village is also worth a visit.

This long loop in the vicinity of the municipality of Leobersdorf, which takes you on a flat route, uses partly well-maintained paths, partly cycle paths, partly paths and country lanes. The route leads along the Generationenpark (children's playground) to the district of Dornau, where you should visit the "Kunstmühle". The following section of the trail leads through tranquil alluvial forest to the Wiener Neustadt Canal with the accompanying Eurovelo 9. Following this and then along the edge of the Rabenwald forest, you reach the extensive vineyards between Leobersdorf and Sollenau. With views of the foothills of the Alps as far as the Schneeberg, you hike along wide field paths to the Heilsamen Brunnen (first mentioned in 1626). The way back initially leads along country lanes to the Polsterer brickworks and then through the village back to the starting point.
Standard Hiking Gear
From Leobersdorf’s town hall square, walk toward the back of Färbergasse. Follow this alley, past the Leobersdorf Event Center, until you reach the stream. Now follow this wide gravel path along the streambank downstream, past the Generations Park, until you reach a sharp left turn. Shortly after the curve, just before a sign reading “Generationenpark,” a narrow path branches off to the right; this gravel path leads through a ditch across to Trauttmansdorffstraße, which you’ll reach at the Dornauer Stub’n (wine tavern). Continue briefly along Trauttmansdorffstraße until you reach Dornauerstraße. Turn right onto this street, cross a bridge and the railroad tracks, and continue straight ahead until you reach the “Kunstmühle Dornau” (restaurant). Here, turn left onto the footpath toward Schönau and follow the path, initially along the edge of the forest, to the Südbahn railway line, where a small underpass leads beneath the tracks. From here, the path runs through the riparian forest along the Mühlbach until it reaches the Wiener Neustädter Canal. Cross the bridge onto the Eurovelo 9 bike path (Thermenradweg) and turn right over the large wooden bridge. Continue straight ahead on the bike path for 1.2 km until you reach the bridge on Sollenauerstraße. Here, cross the canal, walk back about 20 m on the other side, and turn left onto a dirt road. This road leads 900 m—partly through small patches of forest, but mostly along the edge of the Rabenwald—until it reaches the Südbahn railway line. Cross the railway tracks via the bridge, turn onto the dirt road on the left immediately after the bridge, and follow it (300 m south, then veering west) through the vineyards. Stay on this dirt road until you reach a wayside shrine (800 m from the railroad bridge). From here, continue straight ahead for another 200 m (nice view to the west) and turn left onto a dirt road that leads gently downhill. Follow this for 150 m, then turn right onto a narrower dirt road (with ruts). At a crossing with another dirt road, turn briefly left onto the state road and follow it to the “Heilsamer Brunnen” chapel (chapel, fountain with “healing water”).
For the return trip, take the dirt road that begins 20 m east of the chapel on the other side of the road; it leads gently uphill to a gentle ridge. After 500 m, you’ll come to a crossing field path; follow it 30 m to the right, then turn left again onto a narrower field path. Follow this path to the Polsterer Brickworks, which you’ll bypass by keeping to the left, and you’ll reach Ziegelofengasse. Turn right (east) onto this street, passing the brickworks, until, shortly after the factory, a small railroad crossing on the left leads over to Wittmannsdorf. Immediately after the railroad crossing, turn right onto Freiherr von Wittmann Gasse, continue on Raiffeisengasse, and turn right onto Franz Wenger Gasse. This takes you over a footbridge across the Triesting back to the promenade, which you follow back to the parking lot.
