Description
The beautiful hikes are also described in the hiking map of the municipality of Kaumberg as Froschweg, Hahnweg, Burgweg, Hirschweg and Fuchsweg. The village of Kaumberg itself has plenty to see with the barrel fountain on the main square, the Gothic parish church of St. Michael and the local history museum. A particular highlight of the municipality and a very popular excursion destination is the ruins of Araburg Castle, which can be seen from afar.
The Hahnweg trail leads via the "Lug ins Land" viewpoint into the Steinbachtal valley and across meadows and pastures back to Kaumberg. From the market square, the hike leads a short distance through the village and then along the promenade along the Laabachbach stream into the valley until you turn left to the ski slope. Through beech forest and finally across meadows interspersed with larch trees, you ascend to the highest point "Lug ins Land" 636 m above sea level. Here you can enjoy a fantastic view from the Araburg, Hocheck and over the hilly landscape between Steinbachtal and Höfnergraben to the Peilstein. The descent into the Steinbachtal valley initially leads across a meadow, then through forest downhill to the Hagerhof. On the little-used road in the Steinbachtal valley, you soon reach the Ebner farm, where you ascend across meadows to the "Red Cross". The "Promenade" takes the hiker back to Kaumberg.

- Route description From the market square, head east, past the fountain, and immediately turn into Markt street. After the Kirchenwirt, opposite the local history museum, a narrow path branches off to the left (sign: Lug ins Land – Höfnergraben, red marking) leading over to the Laabach. Here you cross the street and climb a few meters up to the "Promenade" beside the brook. To the right, a beautiful gravel path runs directly next to the brook downstream. Before the spot with the "4 Elements," climb a short way up the steps, cross a street, and ascend over meadows to a fence (red marking). From here, follow a farm road (asphalt) to the last house. A sign "Lug ins Land" guides further to the ski slope, on whose northern edge a gravel path leads further up. Now the path continues through beech forest and finally over meadows to a saddle. The highest point of the hike, "Lug ins Land" 636 m above sea level; red cross, resting bench is reached. From here, the path leads left through a cattle grid and over meadows (passing directly by a lone tree!) downhill to the forest edge. Initially walking along the forest edge, soon a steep path turns right into the forest (red marking), leading down to the Hagerhof. Circling the farm to the right, the Steinbach valley is reached. Here follow the asphalt road at the valley floor for 1.5 km, first without marking, then from the "Steinbacher" farm, yellow marked until the yellow marking on a gravel road leads left to Hof Ebner. Passing the farm, ascend initially on a gravel road, then on a meadow path over meadows and pastures up to the "Red Cross." From here, follow the "Promenade" (yellow and red marking) along the slope through the forest back to Kaumberg.
