Cycling tour Starting from Seitenstetten Abbey
This cycle route connects the sacred monuments and cultural sights directly to the "heart of the Mostviertel" and leads along low-traffic, asphalted roads.
The Heart of the Mostviertel Cycle Route leads from the start and finish point in Seitenstetten through the villages of the Heart of the Mostviertel small region. There is a lot to discover along the tour.
In Seitenstetten, the spiritual and cultural center of the region, these include the Benedictine monastery with its historic courtyard garden and the Schacherhof youth center. The castle in St. Peter/Au is also worth a stop, as is the parish church of St. Stephan with its unique ribbed vaulting in Weistrach. Other worthwhile stops include the village chapel in Wolfsbach and the Krenstetten pilgrimage church in Aschbach. Families with children can take a detour to the Energy Explorer Trail in Biberbach.
The cycle route runs through hilly country at an altitude of 300 m and 480 m and is particularly recommended for cyclists interested in culture, but also for leisure cyclists, e-bikers and racing cyclists.
Note: The cycle route is signposted in both directions and can also be cycled in the other direction.
Tip: Take a detour to the Mosthöhenstraße! It is rich in impressive views and cozy places to enjoy. It winds its way from St. Peter in der Au to St. Michael am Bruckbach and on to St. Georgen in der Klaus.
