Description
The trail leads through very scenic areas, particularly in the Zwettltal valley and on the Kinzenschlag hill. Time and again, there are views of the typical Waldviertel landscape with its hilly form and typically varied farming. The trail passes the huge rock formation on which the former Wackelstein (wobbly stone) rested before it toppled over and broke in two in 2011. The Klaus Chapel, which is located on the romantic Zwettlbach stream and was originally built as a bathhouse, is particularly worth seeing. According to legend, if you ring the bell at the Klaus Chapel three times by pulling the rope once, your wish will come true.
- Route description The hiking trail starts at the Cardiovascular Center and then runs downhill to the Zwettl River. Near Klein Gundholz, you cross the federal road and hike along the Zwettl towards Klein Reinprechts. At a bridge over the Zwettl, you turn towards Marharts and shortly thereafter to the left towards Klein Gundholz, where the path runs through a wooded area. Shortly before Klein Gundholz, the path turns right and runs through a forest area to Kinzenschlag. In Kinzenschlag, there is the possibility to take a short break at the Gasthaus Einfalt. Afterwards, the path leads downhill again to Marharts and to the Klaus Mill. Here you walk a short stretch upstream, cross the Zwettl River again and then reach the Klaus Chapel directly. The path then continues to Klein Reinprechts and back to the Cardiovascular Center Groß Gerungs.Surface: natural ground and asphalt
