Description
From the Wexl Arena parking lot, head downhill towards Unternberg. From the chapel directly on the road, follow the signposted path towards the pass chapel. From here, turn right towards Hottmansgraben (Aspang). This path soon divides, keeping right again towards the former Gasthaus Reithofer, where the Ungersböck family now runs the mountain cheese dairy. From Friday to Sunday there is farm-gate sales and a refreshment stop. From here you walk back along the same path for about 100 meters, but then do not turn right again, but follow the road to the forest, where a sign points the way to Unternberg, past the castle. The path leads back to the starting point.

- Getting there From Vienna take the A2 South motorway, exit at Edlitz. Drive in the direction of Aspang. Continue on Wechsel Straße/B54 to Aspang. At the roundabout take the third exit (Gutenberggasse). Turn right onto Bahnstraße. Slight right onto Mühlgasse, which curves slightly to the right and becomes Sonneck. Continue on L137 to Unternberg.From Graz take the A2 South motorway, exit at Aspang. Drive towards Aspang/Zöbern. Turn left onto L137 and follow it to Aspang. Turn right onto Hauptplatz, then immediately left onto Gottsbergergasse. Turn left onto Mühlgasse, which curves slightly to the right and becomes Sonneck. Continue on L137 to Unternberg.
- Public transport From Wiener Neustadt main station, take the regional train (direction Aspang-Markt) to the final stop. Continue with regional bus 369 to the Unternberg stop.Information on the timetable can be found at Route planner VOR AnachB
- Editor’s tip From Friday to Sunday, a visit to the mountain cheese dairy is highly recommended. Refresh yourself on site with many delicious specialties or take some home from the farm shop.Another place to stop is the Wexl Lounge. Please make sure to check the current opening hours before your hike.For a longer stay in Unternberg, a holiday on the farm with the Gruber family at the Ofnerhof or at the Dissauer farm with the Rosinger family is a good option.
