Description
The Gloggnitz hut, located at an altitude of 1,548 meters, was only renovated in 2011 and is run by volunteer members of the ÖGV Gloggnitz local group on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The service with soups and drinks is simple but hearty and is available all year round except from mid-November to New Year. The hut also has sleeping facilities in a mattress dormitory.
Ski tourers in particular appreciate the Gloggnitzer Huts as a starting point for fantastic tours, not least thanks to its location above the Kesselgraben. Even in summer, the hut can only be reached on foot. Via ferratas of varying degrees of difficulty, such as the Hoyossteig, Rudolfssteig, Gaislochsteig, Alpenvereinssteig or Teufelsbadstubensteig, lead via the Große Höllental to the Gloggnitzer Hut. The hut can also be comfortably reached from the summit station of the Rax Areal Ropeway via the Höllentalaussicht in less than 2 hours. Various hiking trails on the Rax plateau connect the Gloggnitzer Hütte with other huts, such as the Ottohaus, the Dirnbacherhütte or the Neue Seehütte.
