Description
The Hegerberg cannot be started often enough - the magnificent panorama from Jauerling and Dunkelsteinerwald across the Tullnerfeld, Schöpfl massif to the Schneeberg never ceases to amaze. At our feet are the idyllic rolling hills of the ElsbeerReich in the Wiesenwienerwald forest. The Hegerbergweg from Steinabruck is a particularly enjoyable way to reach the summit - we cover around half of the route on a quiet farm track with views to Kasten, passing a few individual farmsteads. The rest of the route is on dreamy meadow and forest paths. Refreshments are provided both at the starting point, the Gwörth Wirt, and on the Hegerberg with home cooking.
- safety instructions The shelter house Hegerberg is currently closed. It is supposed to reopen under a new tenant from January 1, 2022.
- Equipment Normal hiking equipment
- Route description The starting point is on Steinabruck Street, from there we already see the first signpost towards Hegerberg, which we follow slightly uphill. Past a water tower of the 2nd Viennese High Spring Water Pipeline and the Krausenberg farmstead, we come to Eibenhof. Straight ahead from Eibenhof, a field path leads us to the "rest stop at Langwiese." With Hegerberg in front of us, we cross Langwiese and enter the birch grove. The path merges into a forest road that leads us along the slope through the lift line of the Hegerberg lift and over a meadow to a barn at a forest edge. After the barn, we head uphill along the forest edge; soon the shelter house appears and we climb over the meadow to our destination, Hegerberg. As a return route, the Kastner Hegerbergweg via Lielach in combination with the Kastner Uferweg can be taken alternatively, or the Stössinger Hegerbergweg via Unterhegerberger and Freiling.
