Türnitz, the pearl of the Traisental, is nestled between Eibel, Eisenstein and Türnitzer Höger in one of the most densely wooded regions of the Alpine foothills. As a summer resort and winter sports center, Türnitz offers a wide range of leisure activities for young and old.
The Türnitzer Höger with the Türnitzer Huts is a steep pre-alpine peak that rises high between the upper Traisental valleys.
- Route description Var. 1) Trail no. 35 red. Türnitz train station through the Scharbach valley to Geierstein, then a longer ridge hike to the Höger shelter.Var. 2) By car into the Traisen valley to the 'Ebnerhof' (parking available) – end of the paved road. The hike passes by Högerhof-Schobermühle, then steeply uphill to the Högersattel (red marked trail no. 34). After a ridge hike (approx. 3/4 hr) you reach the Höger shelter.
