Hiking tour Starting from Church Square
Path no. 96
Path no. 96
The village and the scattered settlements that make the municipal area so extensive are located on the southern edge of the Weinsberg Forest in the upper Little Yspertal. Worth seeing: Waldviertel granite memorial in front of the church, Passion Play, archery course, Frasl honey house, fishing opportunities, fish nature trail, fairytale forest and hammer mill (Primus Hader).
From the church square, walk down the Kirchensteig to the village mill. There, turn left, pass the gas station and department store, turn left, and then immediately right, walking slightly uphill to the Bründl Chapel (a former pilgrimage church); from there, follow the sandy road uphill all the way to Hinteredt. In a forest clearing, you’ll find the forester’s lodge with a chapel. From Hinteredt, about 1 km away, there’s a side trail leading to the Windschopf snack bar. Pass the 150-year-old “Domherrenbuche” beech tree, then turn left toward Dorfstetten.
There is plenty of (free) parking available at the church. This is also where the hiking trails begin.
Vienna – Take the A1 to the Ybbs/Wieselburg exit – Take the B25 Erlauftal highway to Persenbeug – From there, take the B36 to Yspertal – Turn left here and continue to Dorfstetten.
Linz – Take the A7 to Unterweitersdorf – here, switch to the B124 and continue to Königswiesen – in Königswiesen, take the B119a to Linden – From there, take the B119 and continue to the intersection with the L171 – cross the L171 and take the L7283 to Dorfstetten.
