Make sure when choosing your route that it matches your fitness level. Check whether the gastronomy businesses you want to visit along the way are open. Pack your charged mobile phone and map material into your backpack.

Sturdy footwear, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, map material, if needed telescopic poles, first aid kit (blister plasters), sufficient provisions (snack, muesli bars, fruit, water).

The path leads past the roundabout towards Thail to the Opferstein parking lot. On the way up to the left, up the Hochberg, you have a good view of the typical strip fields of the Waldviertel Highlands. Before the path turns downhill again, turn right. On the following short ascent, you can see the Arbesbach ruin if the visibility is good. You hike through a forest section around the Hochberg and back through the village of Thail. After leaving the village, turn onto a field path towards Opferstein. Continue over the field and meadow path and past the Dreifaltigkeitsmarterl back to the main square.
