Hike and enjoy
On the way through the romantic Hölltal valley, you will experience a wonderful natural attraction - the Weitenbach stream rushes down into the depths as if in a gorge. There are 2 natural monuments not far from the trail: the Teufelswand (Devil's Wall) directly on the main road and the Teufelskesseln (Devil's Cauldron) on the stream bed to the north. In Weinling you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Alpine foothills in good weather.
Worth seeing
Pöggstall Castle - which hosted the Lower Austrian state exhibition "Alles was Recht ist" in 2017 - is home to a museum on the history of law, including the only "original" torture chamber and a documentation on the life and work of the artist Franz Traunfellner (reopening in late fall 2020). The special exhibition "Pöggstall Castle - between the region and the imperial court" in the barbican is just as exciting and tells of the eventful restoration, significant finds and amazing stories about the lords of the castle. A 3D animation vividly shows how the keep and the later castle grew from its original structure to its present form.
In addition to Pöggstall Castle with its barbican, the very old St. Anna Church in the Field (1140), the Pöggstall parish church and the pilgrimage church in Neukirchen (1118) on the Ostrong, which is older than Maria Taferl as a pilgrimage church, are also worth a visit.

Start: Schloss Pöggstall via the bike and pedestrian path or via the Bachwiesenweg to Dietsam. At the Jungwirth workshop, the path coming from the village house Würnsdorf meets, then turn right uphill into Siedlungsstraße towards Kienberg. If we start from the village house Würnsdorf, we keep right crossing the Weitenbach towards Pöggstall. In Neu Dietsam, turning sharply left, we hike the road further uphill. At the last house on the right, over the meadow, we soon see a forest path. Following this up the Kienberg, we soon hear the roaring of the Weitenbach in the Hölltal. Now we follow the path through the romantic Hölltal. At the federal road, we turn left - caution road traffic - and go a few meters downhill. Soon a forest road leads upwards. We continue until the road leads up to Weinling, then we hike straight down the forest path, come up the opposite slope to Bergern, and soon see down towards Würnsdorf, which we soon reach via a meadow and forest path.
Free parking is available at the Pöggstall main square, at the parking lot behind the Sparkasse, and in Würnsdorf.
