The apple variety trail leads through the orchards in the Lower Austrian municipality of Jaidhof, a natural cultural landscape that has been created over centuries by small-scale farming. The Waldviertel landscape is characterized by gentle hills and the orchards in the Eisengraberamt are an important habitat and retreat for numerous animal and plant species at any time of year.

Orchard meadows are easy to recognize because the tall fruit trees grow "scattered" in the landscape and, in contrast to intensively cultivated orchards, have often found their own place in the landscape. Orchard meadows are valuable retreats where we like to go for walks with the family, ride our bikes and enjoy the beauty of the landscape. The apple variety trail is also suitable for cycling.
