The Amphibian
At the floodplain bridge, a informational panel illustrates the developmental stages of the frog and the common frog, which is typical of the floodplain. Can you spot a common frog with your own eyes?

TheFloodplain as Our Water Source
Thefloodplain is an important source of water for everyone who lives here. A rotating display shows how much water is consumed daily in the town of Stockerau. Every day, the town uses as much water as the height of the Stockerau church tower. Spin through the day!

The Deer Trail
In the forest, you’ll often see well-trodden paths that the forest animals use time and again. If you’re quiet and observant, you can spot the red deer—it’s the largest mammal in the floodplain. Follow the deer’s trail—will you find your way back out?

The Trees of the Au Forest
At this station, the typical Au trees—oak, poplar, ash, and elm—are explained. Along a section of the trail, you can identify the trees yourself.

The Floodplain—A Nature Reserve
The floodplain is a naturereserve, and there are rules of conduct you must follow here. Do you know them? Can you ride quietly enough along the marked route so as not to disturb anyone in the forest?

High Water and Flooding
The Au is a floodplain. Regular flooding plays an important role in the lives of the plants here. The Au has experienced high water many times in the past. At the measuring stick, you can see how far you would be submerged during a flood.

Deadwood Habitat
The trees lying around are called “deadwood.” These are dead trees that are intentionally left where they are. Only now do they become interesting to many living creatures. Which animals can you spot in the tree trunk?

The Sleeping Snake
The floodplain is a wetland where reptiles such as lizards, wild turtles, and snakes also thrive. Can you balance your bike as you ride over the sleeping snake?

Gliding
The gray heron is a very common large bird in the floodplain. Can you glide like a gray heron on this section of the trail?

The Sunken Ship
The Danube originates in the Black Forest, flows through 10 countries, and empties into the Black Sea. It has always been an important transportation route. A ship is stranded in the oxbow lake. Can you make out the flags of the countries on the ship’s mast?

Our Danube Fish

There are many fish in the Danube. Some of them are particularly nutritious and taste good. The sign introduces the typical Danube fish. You can see the silhouettes of the fish in the water. Can you match them to the fish?

The Ship Relay Race
Over 250 years ago, there were no engines yet. Ships traveled downstream with the current of the water. To go upstream, they had to be pulled by horses. This station requires a great deal of skill—can you pull both ships upstream?

The Thunder Beam
This station explains thunderstorms. On many days, you can see clouds here that hang in the sky like cotton. Even a small cumulus cloud like this can contain around 100,000 liters of water. That makes it as heavy as 40 elephants! Let the thunder and lightning roll as you ride over the Thunder Beam.

Power Plant With a view of the Greifenstein Power Plant, this exhibit explains how electricity is generated. Hydroelectric power plants are a clean way to generate electricity. How does a power plant like this work?

Ship Lock The ship lock—an exciting mechanism for raising or lowering ships from one water level to another. Watch a ship pass through, and you’ll see how the lock works!
