Description

Zeining - in the village (house no. 5) turn left - on the Zeining-Jauerling-Steig trail, the path climbs steeply up to the Turnerwiese meadow on the Jauerling high plateau. Walk along the Jauerling summit circuit to the summit stone in the forest, the highest point along the Danube. The path then leads down to the nature park house with the Wachau terrace, which offers a unique view of the Spitzer Graben and the Danube valley. The trail then climbs back uphill through the Ahornallee to the Turnerwiese. Past the transmitter, the lookout point and the Jauerlinger Naturwerkstatt in the Stauferhütte, the trail then leads downhill through forests to the Gießhübler Kreuz. From there, take the old church path and now panoramic trail (no. 25) down to the village of Zeißing, where the remains of a ruin suggest a former manorial residence. The route continues along the road to Maria Laach with its impressive Gothic pilgrimage church. Following the Drei-Kirchen-Weg, you reach the Nonnersdorfer Kreuz and then take the path to Weiten (stage 11) or back to Zeining (18.7 km as a circular hike).
