The Roman water god Neptune, a sculpture made of sandstone from St. Margartehen and rocks from the Wechselgebit, greets the hiker. In a clearing with a sweeping view of the Buckige Welt, you can feel water and different types of forest soil, such as gravel, pebbles and stones, barefoot on the Kneipp and emotional footpath. In a glass building, the Salaerium, you are surrounded by the wonderful scent of the forest and the gentle sound of rippling water. The brine dripping down over the brushwood enriches the air with fine salt particles, which have a healing effect on respiratory diseases when inhaled. Light moods provide a calming effect. Here you can simply breathe out, let your mind wander and find peace. At the elevated tank , you can obtain interesting information and ask questions about the
water supply and water storage in the past and present. At a small show spring in the forest, you can see how the water is filtered through a pipe as soon as it emerges from between the stones, before flowing through pebbles and being filtered again before trickling down to the drinking water reservoir. On the gentle meadows of the Mönichkirchner Schwaig you finally reach a pond fed by the Wechselquelle spring with water of drinking water quality, which is used as extinguishing water and for snowmaking on the piste in winter. A biotope next to the pond is home to a huge number of animals, which are explained on a display board. The Grenzbacherl Niederösterreich - Steiermark is a great place to rest and enjoy a refreshment stop at one of the mountain huts before you make your way back down to the village. to find out more about the water cycle, from rain to the source of a spring to the stream and pond.
