Mohnstrudelweg Nr. 13 O'zwickte

The hiking trail follows the Poppy Nature Trail through the poppy village of Armschlag, past the poppy garden, along the Große Krems River, and on to the end of the village. There, turn left toward Hammerwerk, and before the Pehn wine tavern, turn left up into the forest. You’ll hike through the high forest, crossing the former ski lift trail and open fields, to Ottenschlag. In Ottenschlag, the trail leads past the lower village pond to the castle and then a short distance along the B36 (toward Zwettl) to the district heating plant. There, turn right, follow Long-Distance Hiking Trail 606 for about 2 kilometers, and then turn left toward Armschlag. The trail leads downhill through the Hochwald forest to Große Krems. There, the hiking trail meets marked trails No. 11 and No. 12, as well as the Kremstalweg toward Armschlag. You’ll pass a disused sawmill building on your way to the village center. However, if you follow Trail 11 toward Sallingberg, you can plan a worthwhile visit to the Sallingberg Recreation Center on Sportplatzstraße. The trail is marked in both directions and serves as the shortest and most direct hiking route between Ottenschlag and Armschlag.

Vienna - A22 to Stockerau - S5 to Krems - B37 to Gföhl - turn toward Lichtenau onto the L76 to Brunn am Walde; from there, take the L73 to Lichtenau - in Lichtenau, take the L76 to Armschlag

Linz – A7 to Unterweitersdorf – take the S10 to the Sandl exit – take the B38 to Karlstift – continue on the B38 to Zwettl – in Zwettl, switch to the B36 toward Ottenschlag – follow the B36 to Armschlag
