Amateur cyclists can enjoy the 360° panorama in a place where the Tour of Austria has already stopped several times. The 30km long tour starts in Waidhofen/Ybbs and leads up to the well-known Sonntagberg pilgrimage basilica (675m).
After a short photo break, the route continues along the panoramic high trail to St. Leonhard am Walde and then, accompanied by beautiful scenery, rapidly descends back to the Ybbstal metropolis of Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
Despite the short distance, this attractive route has some challenging climbs and magnificent views to offer.
Be careful on the short, partly steep descents on the panoramic high road and on the fast and partly tight-curved descent from St. Leonhard down into the Urtal valley. Keep right!
Easy gear shifting recommended (16% gradient)
Schlosscenter parking garage, directly opposite the public pool/castle hotel
A1 motorway exit Amstetten West, B121 Ybbstal federal road 25km to Waidhofen/Ybbs
ÖBB from Amstetten to Waidhofen/Ybbs main station. From there only 1km to the starting point.
Ride the short flat section before the last kilometer “deliberately” easy! ;-)
