The route is leisurely without any inclines and is also easy for children to manage.
- Route description You start in Wilhelmsburg directly from the Gasthof Franzl by bike and ride the Traisental route north towards St. Pölten. The route always follows the Traisen river, passing directly by the Naturfreunde boathouse. Here you can refresh yourself on the lovely terrace and then relaxingly pedal along the river to the Landhausviertel. A stop at the Klangturm is worthwhile: from the 47m high observation platform, you can enjoy the view over St. Pölten. Three cycling kilometers further, you reach the St. Pölten lake experience. There is plenty to experience and enjoy here: the Seedose invites you to relax on the idyllic terrace directly by the lake. Here you can also switch to pedal boats and enjoy a picnic by the lake. Or you can dare another view from above and climb the observation tower between the small and large Viehofner lakes. The Ratzersdorfer lake offers bathing fun, and exciting nature can be admired on the Feldmühle nature trail. The return ride at your own pace takes you back along the Traisental route to Gasthof Franzl in Wilhelmsburg.
- Parking Free parking at the Gasthof Franzl's private parking lot.
- Getting there Via the West motorway (A1), exit St. Pölten-South, then continue on B20 towards Mariazell. Turn off at the southern city entrance to Wilhelmsburg (left), from here Gasthof Franzl is clearly visible.
- Public transport From St. Pölten main station take the Traisentalbahn to Wilhelmsburg station. Gasthof Franzl is located directly opposite. Note: There are only limited bicycle spaces available.
- Editor’s tip Visit the old town of the state capital St. Pölten. The town hall square is easy to find thanks to the clear cycling guidance system, and cyclists are allowed to roll through the pedestrian zone at walking speed. A detour worth making!
