Make sure when choosing your route that it suits your condition. Check whether the catering businesses you want to visit along the way are open. Pack your charged mobile phone and maps in your backpack. For cross-border routes, always carry a passport or an identity card.
Sturdy footwear, functional clothing, sun and rain protection, maps, if necessary telescopic poles, first aid kit (blister plasters), sufficient provisions (snack, muesli bars, fruit, water).
From the information platform in the town center, walk about 400 meters towards Purrath, then turn left and follow marking No. 74 to the Dietrichsbach farm road, where you continue right to the Halterberg parking lot. From here, turn left and follow the marking, past the Meloner Au, to Fichtenbach. Through a high forest, the path leads you past a small landscape pond to Gaubitzhof and if you still feel like it, you can visit the Luaga Lucka, which lies almost on the path. On path No. 74, it's then about 1.5 kilometers back to Altmelon.

Coming from St. Pölten or Vienna via Krems to Zwettl on the B 38 to Groß Gerungs and from there to Altmelon or at the Merzenstein junction on the B 124 to Altmelon.
Coming from the west A1 to Linz, A7 and B 124 to Altmelon.
