The picturesque Sebastianiweg leads us on our last stage of the Mariazellerweg from the small community of Mitterbach am Erlaufsee through the beautiful landscape above St. Sebastian to the pilgrimage basilica in Mariazell.
On the route of the Via Sacra, starting from Mitterbach am Erlaufsee, we first hike along the Götschlhofweg to the relatively secluded St. Sebastian's Church. The actual Sebastianiweg with its many rosary stations begins at the beautiful church and leads us above the municipality of St. Sebastian and at the foot of the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe to Mariazell.
On a pilgrimage, your backpack should really contain only the bare essentials! A GPS device is very helpful for navigation.
The route follows the picturesque Sebastianiweg along the Via Sacra, with its Rosary shrines, to Mariazell (about 1.5 hours from Mitterbach).
There are several free parking options in the center of Mitterbach.

Coming from Vienna, take the A1 toward Linz and exit at St. Pölten-Süd (59). Take the B20 (Mariazellerstraße) to Mitterbach am Erlaufsee.
